Some owners of Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra phones are reporting that their screens have a tiny green line that runs vertically down them. A thin white line that runs horizontally across the display is paired with a vertical thin green stripe in another variation of the same bug. On the Samsung Community Forum, a user by the name of Qu1JcMmaCO has expressed dissatisfaction over his Galaxy S24 Ultra, claiming that it displays a vertical green stripe and a horizontal white stripe.
The lines showed up on the boot screen as well as while the user was watching YouTube. When the customer contacted Samsung Care+, they acknowledged that the item had a manufacturing issue, but Samsung refused to replace it and requested that it be returned before being bought again. The user would then forfeit any pre-order savings that he had accrued. In the end, Samsung advised the phone user to file a complaint with T-Mobile.
The phone was purchased on Samsung.com and is T-Mobile-locked, which is the problem in this case. Samsung stated accurately that T-Mobile is in charge as the phone is financed through them. However, it would be the manufacturer’s fault if the phone was bought unlocked through Samsung.
When a fellow Reddit user posted about having the same problem with their Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung declined to take responsibility, citing a “Verizon issue.” Again, Samsung was right—since Verizon was the seller of the phone. He tried to make things right at the first Verizon store he visited by accusing the owner of being the reason behind the lineups. After giving up, he visited another Verizon location, where a representative assured him that the company would make every effort “to squirm out of any responsibility for providing the warranty.”
In the end, the phone’s owner returned the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the broken screen to Verizon and purchased a new one. The only problem was that the faulty device was acquired through a trade-in, and the Reddit user is worried that Verizon may take advantage of him.
As of right now, only a small percentage of Galaxy S24 Ultra devices offered by US carriers have the lines. Most likely, this is not a problem for you if you ordered your phone unlocked from Samsung.
