How to Utilize the Galaxy S24’s Browsing Assist AI Features: It can be difficult to read text-heavy websites on a mobile device. With the Galaxy AI in the Galaxy S24 series of phones, Samsung hopes to change that. Browsing Assist AI is a noteworthy feature that Galaxy AI brings to the Samsung Internet browser, along with other bells and whistles. To assist you in reading and understanding content more quickly, the Browser Assist AI can translate and summarize articles or web pages. The fact that you may stay in the same browser tab is the finest part.
Since the function is still in its teething phase, there will undoubtedly be some hits and misses with the early findings. Still, it can save you several browsing minutes. Here’s how to activate and set up your Galaxy S24 series phone’s Browsing Assist AI.
What Is Browsing Assist on the Samsung Galaxy S24
The Samsung Internet app now has a new feature called Browsing Assist that combines two AI features: Summarize and Translate.
By condensing a large article into a few essential points, the Summarize function leverages sophisticated intelligence to generate concise summaries of the web page content. This saves you time by allowing you to swiftly assimilate the pertinent information without having to read the entire webpage.
Website and social media information is translated using the Translate function, which makes use of neural machine translation models. Large volumes of data are used to train these neural machine translation models so they can comprehend phrase context. The goal is to improve your ability to read and comprehend the foreign language translations that take context into account.
The following are required in order to use Browsing Assist:
- Galaxy phone that supports Galaxy AI
- The most recent version of the Samsung account-compatible Internet app
- A working internet connection
As of this writing, the Galaxy S24 series was the first to introduce Galaxy AI features. Later this year, we assume that other Galaxy phones will also be able to access some, if not all, of the Galaxy AI features.
How to Use Summarize in Browser Assist
A book or article on the internet can become tiresome to read if there is an excessive amount of words. Alternatively, you can read the main points of the wall of text by using the Summarize function in the Samsung Internet browser. Here’s how to utilize Browser Assist’s Summarize feature.
- On your Galaxy S24 series phone, launch the Samsung Internet app.
- In the lower-right corner, tap the tools symbol (three horizontal lines), then choose Settings.
- Click on Browsing Help and then select Summarize.
- To enable Summarize, turn on the toggle.
- Open any webpage and select it by tapping the toolbar’s bottom Browsing Assist icon.
- Choose Summarize.
You will receive a bullet-point summary of the complete article or webpage. Additionally, you can use the corresponding choices at the bottom to Copy or Translate the summary.
To switch from Detailed (default) to Standard, hit the Settings icon in the upper-right corner. This will allow you to choose shorter summaries. That will yield findings that are more succinct.
Note: Not all websites may support the summarize feature, and the output may change from one usage to the next.
How to Use Translate for Help with Browsing
You still need to install and activate Google Translate on your Android phone, even though it functions perfectly. On the other hand, Browsing Assist’s Translate option is set to default. To use the Translate button, simply tap it while surfing. Here’s how to do it:
- Open the webpage you wish to translate by going here.
- Choose Translate by tapping the Browsing Assist icon located at the bottom.
- At the top of the page, a translation popup will appear. After choosing your favorite language, press the Translate button.
The webpage will be translated into your choice language in a matter of seconds. Furthermore, the translation of any subsequent pages you view on the website will be done automatically.
Language packs are necessary for the On-device and Translation modes to work. On your Samsung phone, you may download language packs by opening the Settings app, selecting Samsung Internet Settings, and then selecting Browsing Assist. Then, touch on Translate, choose Language Packs for Translation. As an alternative, go to Settings, General Management, Language Packs, and tap.
There are presently 13 languages that it can translate between: Thai, Vietnamese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish (Mexico, Spain, United States), English Simplified, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese. Future upgrades will include support for more languages.
We used Samsung Internet’s Browsing Assist Translate in addition to Google Translate to translate a few articles. On most platforms, the translations are accurate. In certain situations, though, Samsung’s Galaxy AI solution feels more logical.
Will Internet Help Arrive for Older Samsung Galaxy Phones?
One of the Galaxy AI capabilities unveiled with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series is Browsing Assist. If you’re wondering if these features will work with your old Galaxy phone, we have excellent news.
In the first half of the year, Samsung has confirmed to Android Authority that a number of Galaxy AI capabilities would be made available on older devices, such as the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series.
Regretfully, the manufacturer has not made it clear which functions will be available on previous models. Similar to Pixel’s Magic Eraser, which was subsequently made available on more devices, some functions are processed in the cloud. Simultaneously, the capabilities of the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 are necessary for on-device AI jobs, which restricts their availability on older models.
